7-Eleven MY Celebrates 40th Anniversary with Augmented Reality Wonderland Experience

In celebration of its 40th anniversary, 7-Eleven MY has launched Wonderland, an augmented reality (AR) experience that allows customers to explore four different themed worlds. By scanning QR codes in stores with a smartphone, customers can play interactive games through Instagram filters.

The themed worlds include the water park-inspired Slurpee Splash, where users can paint slides with different colors of 7-Eleven’s iconic Slurpee drinks. Other worlds like 7-Verse feature a controllable spaceman collecting exclusive snacks, while CAFéstival showcases a carnival with 7CAFé foods for users to shoot down their desired items. In the final world, SoftScrapers, users can simulate eating fluffy soft serve ice cream towers through the filters.

Players who score big can share their results via IG story and direct message screenshots to 7-Eleven on Instagram for a chance to win prizes such as a PlayStation 5, Dyson Hairdryer, VR goggles, and an LG TV.

A spokesperson from 7-Eleven stated, “Our goal for Wonderland is to enhance customers’ experience when they visit our stores. Good food, snacks, and drinks, literally viewed through a different lens.” The campaign was developed in partnership with Naga DDB Tribal and Cybernerdbaby.

Naga DDB Tribal representative mentioned, “We envisioned Wonderland as a space not just for delicious snacks, but also how these foods’ unique features can instill a sense of wonder in customers, so they’ll always come back for more. It is all in line with our mission of being the experience makers for our client’s brands.”

The AR campaign also features special promotional in-store prices for selected products, known as ‘Wonder Deals.’ Additionally, 7-Eleven recently revamped its iconic Slurpee drink in a campaign titled “#BeraniKeranaSlurpee” (Brave because of Slurpee), encouraging Malaysians to be confident and daring.

With the launch of Wonderland and the daring Slurpee campaign, 7-Eleven MY continues to innovate and engage customers in unique and exciting ways.
