Exciting Updates for Your Meta Quest 3 Headset: v66 is Here!

Meta Quest 3 Update v66: Improved Mixed Reality and New Wrist Buttons

June is here, and Meta Quest 3 users can rejoice as the latest update, v66, is set to enhance their virtual reality experience once again. The standout upgrade for this update is to the VR headset’s mixed reality capabilities, building upon previous improvements in Horizon OS v64 and v65.

One of the key improvements in v66 is the enhancement of image quality, with reduced image distortion and a reduction in the warping effect around moving objects. This means that users will find it easier to interact with real-world objects while in mixed reality, and the overlay displaying virtual hands will better align with the user’s actual hands.

To showcase these improvements, Meta has released a video demonstrating the changes to mixed reality. Additionally, users who prefer using their hands instead of controllers will benefit from new wrist buttons. By enabling this option in the experimental settings menu, users can tap on their right or left wrist to access the Meta or Menu buttons, making it easier to navigate menus within games or apps.

Furthermore, Meta has made it easier to enjoy background audio by allowing audio or video from the Browser to continue playing when the app is minimized. There are also updates to Parental Supervision features, including the ability for children aged 10 to 12 who are supervised by the same parent account to see each other in the Family Center.

It’s important to note that the update is rolling out gradually, with Meta warning that the passthrough change in v66 may result in slower updates than usual. Some users may not see all the improvements immediately after updating, but Meta assures that all users will eventually receive the upgrade.

Overall, the v66 update for Meta Quest 3 brings significant improvements to mixed reality, new wrist buttons for easier navigation, and enhancements to background audio and Parental Supervision features. Users can look forward to a more immersive and user-friendly VR experience with this latest update.
