Introducing the Spacetop G1: The AR Laptop for Work by Sightful
Tech startup Sightful has officially launched the updated and refined Gen 1 Spacetop system, a revolutionary laptop that uses AR glasses for a display. Last year, Sightful invited a thousand productivity pioneers to experience the innovative technology, and now it is available for sale to the public.
The Spacetop system aims to revolutionize remote working by providing users with a 100-inch virtual display through augmented-reality glasses connected to a keyboard base. The user can interact with productivity windows, video boxes, games, and more using the keyboard and touchpad, similar to a standard laptop.
The Gen 1 release features a Snapdragon QCS8550 chipset with KRYO CPU and Adreno 740 graphics, offering 70% faster processing than the previous model. It boasts 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, 128 GB of UFS 3.1 storage, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, and 5G/LTE connectivity. The system runs on Space OS, optimized for spatial computing, and includes a 5-megapixel webcam for video chats.
The AR glasses weigh 3 oz and feature two OLED display panels for high-resolution visuals, auto-dimming for enhanced focus, and open-ear speakers for immersive audio. The system is designed to support custom prescription inserts for users who wear glasses.
Sightful CEO and co-founder Tamir Berliner stated, “We introduced Spacetop to free people from the constraints of time and space. We firmly believe in the power of AR glasses as the first step towards a more immersive computing experience.” The Spacetop G1 is available for reservations at $100 per unit, with a final price of $1,900 and shipping expected to begin in October.
