Sandbox VR to Open First Florida Location in St. Petersburg’s Grand Central District
Sandbox VR, a leading virtual reality (VR) entertainment company, is making its way to the Sunshine State with the opening of its first Florida location in St. Petersburg’s Grand Central District. The highly anticipated opening is set for June 27 at 2228 Central Ave, a historic 4,300-square-foot building that was once home to Herbach’s Rattan Furniture.
The interior buildout is currently in progress, with construction crews working diligently to ensure everything is ready for Sandbox VR’s grand opening. The company, known for its full-body VR experiences and focus on social gaming, will offer guests the opportunity to immerse themselves in a virtual world with up to six players at a time. Equipped with VR headsets, wrist and ankle sensors, haptic vests, and headphones, players can interact with each other in a variety of virtual experiences, including games based on popular TV shows like Star Trek and Squid Game.
Sandbox VR has partnered with Solis Entertainment LLC & Solis Group of Industries to bring this cutting-edge entertainment experience to St. Pete. CEO Steve Zhao expressed his excitement about the Florida debut, stating, “Florida is, by far, the most frequent request we receive for our next Sandbox VR location. We knew we had to find the right partner and the right location to kick off our presence in the Sunshine State.”
This opening marks Sandbox VR’s 49th location worldwide, with operations in Canada, Europe, and Asia. The company also has plans to expand further in Florida, with a location in Fort Myers listed as “coming soon” on their website. Bookings for the St. Pete location are now open, with discounted rates available for the first weekend at sandboxvr.com/stpetersburg.
