Introducing Dyson CleanTrace: Augmented Reality Feature for Better Cleaning

Dyson Introduces New Augmented Reality Feature to Enhance Vacuuming Experience

Dyson, the renowned cleaning brand, is set to revolutionize the way we clean our homes with the introduction of a new augmented reality (AR) feature called CleanTrace. This innovative technology will be integrated into Dyson Gen5Detect cordless vacuum cleaners, allowing users to better visualize the cleaning process using their smartphones.

The CleanTrace feature works by attaching a phone clamp to the vacuum cleaner, which then utilizes the handset to display a visual representation of the cleaning area. Drawing inspiration from Dyson’s 360 Vis Nav robot vac, CleanTrace helps users identify areas that have been cleaned and those that still need attention.

Vacuuming can often be a guessing game, with different individuals approaching the task in varying ways. Some may miss spots while cleaning, while others may repeatedly go over the same areas. CleanTrace aims to add efficiency to this household chore by providing real-time feedback on the cleaning progress.

Through the MyDyson app, users can view a third-person perspective of the vacuum’s cleaning head on their phone screen. This overlay shows where cleaning has been completed and highlights areas that still require attention, enabling a more thorough cleaning experience.

CleanTrace is set to launch in June and will initially be compatible with iPhone 12 Pro or newer models, as the AR technology relies on the phone’s LiDAR hardware. Unfortunately, Android users will have to wait for future compatibility updates.

Stay tuned for more information on pricing and availability of the CleanTrace clamp and software. For those who struggle to keep track of their cleaning progress, this AR feature could prove to be a valuable tool in maintaining a spotless home.
