After typing with Nvidia for his first AR headset, Magic Leap demands reinforcements for his future undercut-oriented efforts.
On Wednesday, Magic Leap announced a partnership with the Chipmaker AMD to create a “half customer” system on a chip (SOC) with which pc, graphic and machine learning, particularly computer vision and spatial computing, is adopted for its AR headsets.
In his partnership with AMD, Magic Leap is aiming for the highest performance to guide advanced AR content for company firms and at the identical time achieve greater performance efficiency.

The move is when Qualcomm gained a supplier of processors for AR -Wearables. The company offers the Snapdragon XR2 for AR and VR headsets and the XR1 for smartlasses, each of which include the Spectra ISP from Qualcomm for image processing.
Lynx has already positioned itself to send the primary headset within the XR2 this summer, while Google and Vuzix took over the XR1 for its Enterprise SmartGlass. The Silicon from Qualcomm also supplies the Hololens headsets from Microsoft.
Nevertheless, AMD could be very repurative and ranked among the many top manufacturers of chipsets for PCs in its own. The presence within the AR hardware area definitely heats the competition. And there may be a less crowded pipeline.
