New Film Set in Universal Century 0096 to Release for Meta Quest

Bandai Namco Filmworks has announced an exciting new project for fans of the Gundam series – a feature-length VR anime titled Mobile Suit Gundam Silver Phantom, set to release this fall for Meta Quest. The announcement was made at Anime Expo, where attendees were treated to a new key visual and trailer for the upcoming film.

Directed by Kenichi Suzuki and written by Ryōji Sekinishi, Mobile Suit Gundam Silver Phantom will take viewers on an immersive adventure set in the Universal Century 0096. The film will feature character designs by Tsukasa Kotobuki and mechanical design by Mika Akitaka, promising a visually stunning experience for fans of the franchise.

The project marks the first collaboration between Sunrise and French company Atlas V, with Pierre Zandrowicz describing the film as an interactive, immersive adventure that combines the best of both worlds. Shōko Nakagawa will perform the film’s theme song “Across the World,” adding to the excitement surrounding the project.

In addition to Mobile Suit Gundam Silver Phantom, Bandai Namco Filmworks also announced the Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance project, which will consist of six episodes streaming on Netflix this fall. The animation for this project will be produced entirely using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5, promising a cutting-edge viewing experience for fans.
