Introducing Plans 3D and Plans 2D: Virtual Reality Technology for Previewing Homes Before They Are Built

The future of home design is here with the release of new virtual reality (VR) technology by PropTech company Enviz. Plans 3D and Plans 2D allow architects and designers to bring residential floor plans to life in a whole new way.

Plans 2D brings floor plans to a 1:1 scale, allowing users to see their design at their feet from anywhere in the world using a mobile device or tablet. Plans 3D takes it a step further, creating a 1:1 scale of the entire home with an immersive AR/VR experience that can be accessed through a VR headset, mobile phone, tablet, or computer.

Enviz CEO Michael Shaw believes that being able to physically walk through a floor plan is a valuable experience for Australians looking to preview their future homes before they are built. The ability to engage with a design at the building site through the mobile app is a game-changer for the design and construction industry.

Jye Bohm and Sophie O’Dea used Plans 3D to preview their new home during the design stage and were amazed by the experience. They were able to make changes to the design that they hadn’t noticed from looking at the floor plans, ultimately saving them significant costs in the long run.

Plans 3D is cost-effective, with a conversion to a virtual reality walk-through experience priced at $600, while Plans 2D is just $20. Shaw hopes that this product will be a major drawcard for architects and designers looking to showcase their designs to clients, as customer engagement based on a virtual experience before building commences delivers greater peace of mind for all parties involved.

The demand for richer, engaging experiences in the housing industry will continue to drive the Proptech sector forward, making virtual reality technology like Plans 3D and Plans 2D an essential tool for architects, designers, and homeowners alike.
