Introduction to a Future World

A brand new video depicts a super-charged, claustrophobic world that’s just across the corner. This six-minute film, called Hyper-Reality, shows an individual living in Medellin, Colombia, doing on a regular basis activities like riding on a bus, going to the supermarket, and crossing the road. However, every little thing she sees is enhanced with computer graphics, social network updates, games, adverts, and other digital ephemera, much like Google Glass on steroids.

The Creator’s Vision

The film was created by filmmaker and designer Keiichi Matsuda, who wanted to point out the world from one woman’s point-of-view, wearing a pair of fictional "augmented reality" glasses. As her day in town progresses, it becomes clear that every one shouldn’t be quite right. The world Matsuda has created is from his own imagination, nevertheless it is rooted in real technology. Various Silicon Valley firms, from Microsoft to Google, are working on augmented reality devices.

A Less Corporate Vision

Matsuda desired to paint a less corporate vision of what this augmented future might seem like. He says, "You get quite a lot of tech-utopian videos coming out from the large tech firms. They all feel slightly sterile; they do not feel very real. They don’t encapsulate the on a regular basis frustrations that I’m going through life living with technology." This vision is more realistic and shows the potential downsides of a world with augmented reality.

The Impact of Augmented Reality

The film shows how augmented reality may be each helpful and overwhelming. The woman within the film is consistently bombarded with information and advertisements, making it difficult for her to deal with her each day activities. This raises questions on the potential impact of augmented reality on our each day lives. Will it make our lives easier, or will it just add to the noise and distractions that we already face?

Conclusion

The Hyper-Reality film provides a thought-provoking take a look at a possible future with augmented reality. While it’s rooted in real technology, it also shows the potential downsides of a world with an excessive amount of information and too many distractions. As we move forward with the event of augmented reality devices, it is important to think about the potential impact on our each day lives and to strive for a balance between technology and reality. The film is a warning that we needs to be careful about how we design and use augmented reality, to make sure that it enhances our lives relatively than overwhelming us.
